21st Bargaining Update

Dear campus community,

In today's bargaining session, we reached a Tentative Agreement on 3 articles: Benefits, Position Posting,
and Timelines for Contracts & Cancellation Payments. We made a counter-proposal on Housing, and
each party made a counter-proposal on Professional Development.

These Tentative Agreements represent significant gains. We have protected our existing benefits and assured QALs and AYALs a first-round interview for new RTL positions. We have also assured that all AYALs will receive updates by Mar. 31 as to whether the University knows their hiring status for Fall.

We expressed our displeasure with the Administration's most recent Compensation proposal, which is
worse for NTT than their original proposal. You have an opportunity to stand with your fellow faculty by
joining tomorrow's action: On Saturday, January 13, Santa Clara plays Saint Mary's, and as everyone
arrives at the Leavey Center, from 2-4, we will hand fliers to supporters that will direct them to a
petition to ask the Administration not to drop the ball on the contract.

Our next bargaining session will be on January 26.

Best,
The Union Bargaining Team
